In Vikki Chu's Wake Up, Poppyville!, the day starts at midnight. Two travellers check into their hostel at dusk, wait for the clock to strike twelve, and head out into a town where the milk is blueberry flavoured, kids go off to school in the dark, and everyone is turning out for the grand opening of Delilah's Toy Shop. The travellers are after a dragonwagon. By sunrise, most of Poppyville is getting ready for bed.
The town begins as black silhouettes against purple and pink skies and fills in with colour as the travellers make their way through it. Chu builds every page from cut paper, and the same oddball residents turn up again from one spread to the next, waiting to be spotted. This is her debut as both author and illustrator.

RETURNS
Online orders can be returned within 14 days of initial receipt. If more than 14 days have gone by since the initial receipt of your purchase, unfortunately we can’t accept your return or exchange.
Please contact us at hello@parkette.ca with your request before returning an item. We will provide you with a return authorization number. A return authorization number must be included in your return. All returned purchases will either be issued a store credit or exchange minus the initial shipping charge. We are a small family-owned business and unfortunately cannot offer any refunds at this time.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in its original packaging. Items must be unworn, and tags still attached. All footwear must have no creasing or damage to the soles to be returned. Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food or magazines cannot be returned.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We understand that plans can change, and we’re here to help as best we can. Please note that due to recent changes in our payment processor’s policies, canceled orders will incur a 3% cancellation fee. This fee helps cover the non-refundable processing costs associated with your original payment. Once an order has shipped, we’re unable to cancel it.
