Things I Learned From My Dog by Victor D.O. Santos, illustrated by Dena Seiferling, begins at a Sunday market, where a six-year-old asks his mother for a dog and comes home with the scruffier of the two puppies. Her name is Luna. Over the next decade she is there for all of it, and without meaning to she teaches him how to listen, how to have fun and how to forgive.
Losing her is part of the story, told plainly and without hurry, and so is the question of what comes after.
Victor D.O. Santos is a linguist who wrote and self-published his first picture book as a present for his son in 2020. His What Makes Us Human has since been translated into thirty languages. Dena Seiferling illustrates and makes needle-felted sculpture in Calgary, where she teaches at the Alberta University of the Arts. Her illustrations for Night Lunch won the New York Times and New York Public Library Best Illustrated Children's Book award.

Some items have non-standard dimensions and may incur additional shipping charges. If needed, we will contact you after your purchase to inform you.
RETURNS
Online orders can be returned within 14 days of initial receipt. If more than 14 days have gone by since the initial receipt of your purchase, unfortunately we can’t accept your return or exchange.
Please contact us at hello@parkette.ca with your request before returning an item. We will provide you with a return authorization number. A return authorization number must be included in your return. All returned purchases will either be issued a store credit or exchange minus the initial shipping charge. We are a small family-owned business and unfortunately cannot offer any refunds at this time.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in its original packaging. Items must be unworn, and tags still attached. All footwear must have no creasing or damage to the soles to be returned. Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food or magazines cannot be returned.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We understand that plans can change, and we’re here to help as best we can. Please note that due to recent changes in our payment processor’s policies, canceled orders will incur a 3% cancellation fee. This fee helps cover the non-refundable processing costs associated with your original payment. Once an order has shipped, we’re unable to cancel it.
