The Illustrators: Ludwig Bemelmans offers a visually rich exploration of the life and work of the artist best known as the creator of the beloved Madeline books. Bemelmans (1898–1962) also wrote and illustrated a number of other children's books, novels, short stories, and travel books, and his illustrations were frequently featured on the cover of the New Yorker throughout the 1940s and 1950s.
As an artist, Bemelmans documented life as it went on around him while inventing stories and characters from his vivid imagination. His illustrations for the Madeline series are reminiscent of the work of Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Raoul Dufy, but possess a unique style that has resonated with readers around the world since the first book was published in 1939.
This volume includes exclusive sketches and photographs from the Bemelmans archive that have never been previously published.

RETURNS
Online orders can be returned within 14 days of initial receipt. If more than 14 days have gone by since the initial receipt of your purchase, unfortunately we can’t accept your return or exchange.
Please contact us at hello@parkette.ca with your request before returning an item. We will provide you with a return authorization number. A return authorization number must be included in your return. All returned purchases will either be issued a store credit or exchange minus the initial shipping charge. We are a small family-owned business and unfortunately cannot offer any refunds at this time.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in its original packaging. Items must be unworn, and tags still attached. All footwear must have no creasing or damage to the soles to be returned. Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food or magazines cannot be returned.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We understand that plans can change, and we’re here to help as best we can. Please note that due to recent changes in our payment processor’s policies, canceled orders will incur a 3% cancellation fee. This fee helps cover the non-refundable processing costs associated with your original payment. Once an order has shipped, we’re unable to cancel it.
