Shelf's Issue 4 is the latest instalment of the biannual magazine about picture book making, a large-format print publication that treats picture books as an art form worth reading closely and talking about at length.
This issue brings Carson Ellis and Mac Barnett together in conversation about their latest collaboration, a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin, alongside an interview with Michael Rosen and a look inside the world of illustrator Isabelle Arsenault. There is a candid piece from author and illustrator Katie Cleminson on grief and the process of making a book about it, and a profile of French illustrator Magali Le Huche, who illustrated Bum Fish. Plenty more features round it out, plus a substantial review section.
Thick pages and bold colour, with a design made to be kept and returned to. For anyone who takes the craft behind picture books seriously, whether that is a job, a pastime, or both.

Shelf is a biannual magazine about picture book matters, founded in 2024 by illustrator Helen Hancocks, who also runs the picture book shop Shelf Editions. Printed in the United Kingdom, each issue treats picture books as an art form worth serious attention, with conversations, features, and reviews spanning the authors, illustrators, and industry behind them.

Estimated arrival 1-5 business days.
ON & QC: CAD $12 standard shipping, CAD $25 1-2 DAY EXPEDITED shipping, and free shipping on orders over CAD $200 before tax.
AB, MB & SK: CAD $15 standard shipping, CAD $35 1 -2 DAY EXPEDITED shipping, and free shipping to on orders over CAD $250 before tax.
BC, NB, NS & PEI: CAD $20 standard shipping, CAD $40 1 -2 DAY EXPEDITED shipping, and free shipping to on orders over CAD $300 before tax.
NL, NU, NT & YT: CAD $25 standard shipping.
Local pickup option available at checkout during store business hours (if you need to pick up your order outside of store hours, please email us at hello@parkette.ca and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs). An email will be sent when your order is ready for pickup. Please have your order confirmation email with you when you come.

Some items have non-standard dimensions and may incur additional shipping charges. If needed, we will contact you after your purchase to inform you.
RETURNS
Online orders can be returned within 14 days of initial receipt. If more than 14 days have gone by since the initial receipt of your purchase, unfortunately we can’t accept your return or exchange.
Please contact us at hello@parkette.ca with your request before returning an item. We will provide you with a return authorization number. A return authorization number must be included in your return. All returned purchases will either be issued a store credit or exchange minus the initial shipping charge. We are a small family-owned business and unfortunately cannot offer any refunds at this time.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in its original packaging. Items must be unworn, and tags still attached. All footwear must have no creasing or damage to the soles to be returned. Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food or magazines cannot be returned.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We understand that plans can change, and we’re here to help as best we can. Please note that due to recent changes in our payment processor’s policies, canceled orders will incur a 3% cancellation fee. This fee helps cover the non-refundable processing costs associated with your original payment. Once an order has shipped, we’re unable to cancel it.
