Sea to Sky: An Introduction to Planet Earth by Pui Lee is a nonfiction picture book that starts at the bottom of the ocean and climbs. The pages move upward from the ocean floor to the highest mountains and on into the sky, with a stop in the desert along the way, collecting facts about what lives at each level and how it works. How deep is the ocean? Do clouds have names? Both get answered.
Lee is a graphic designer, and it shows in the layout: bold flat artwork and infographic spreads that make a lot of information easy to take in. A big book at 30 cm tall, so the mountains have room.
