Mother Boo: Poems from Spookytown by Vikki VanSickle is a collection of Halloween poems set in Spookytown, a corner of October County where the leaves stay bright, the air stays crisp, and the pumpkins are always in their prime. The poems are gathered by Mother Boo, the oldest ghost in town, who reads them aloud to the local witches, ghosts, and goblins when it is time to settle in.
Inspired by Mother Goose, the rhymes run from silly to spine-tingling: the secret to flying, a pumpkin parade, a dance with werewolves, and a cast of skeletons, pumpkin heads, vampires, and friendly monsters. VanSickle keeps things playful rather than scary, which makes it a good read-aloud for the weeks when a short poem suits bedtime better than a full story.
The illustrations are by Jennica Lounsbury, who came to picture books from animation and works out of Hamilton. VanSickle writes from Toronto, so this is a local pick as much as a seasonal one.

RETURNS
Online orders can be returned within 14 days of initial receipt. If more than 14 days have gone by since the initial receipt of your purchase, unfortunately we can’t accept your return or exchange.
Please contact us at hello@parkette.ca with your request before returning an item. We will provide you with a return authorization number. A return authorization number must be included in your return. All returned purchases will either be issued a store credit or exchange minus the initial shipping charge. We are a small family-owned business and unfortunately cannot offer any refunds at this time.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in its original packaging. Items must be unworn, and tags still attached. All footwear must have no creasing or damage to the soles to be returned. Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food or magazines cannot be returned.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We understand that plans can change, and we’re here to help as best we can. Please note that due to recent changes in our payment processor’s policies, canceled orders will incur a 3% cancellation fee. This fee helps cover the non-refundable processing costs associated with your original payment. Once an order has shipped, we’re unable to cancel it.
