Join us at Parkette on Thursday, May 7 from 7 PM to 9 PM for an evening discussing Matrescence: On the Metamorphosis of Pregnancy, Childbirth and Motherhood by Lucy Jones — a book that examines the strange, uncharted reality of becoming a mother with the seriousness and rigour it deserves. Political and darkly funny, it gives language to parts of motherhood that usually go unspoken, the kind of book that makes mothers feel seen in ways that are life-affirming and deeply healing.
Part memoir, part science writing, Matrescence moves through biology, ecology, neuroscience, and cultural criticism to look unflinchingly at what the transition into motherhood actually does to a person's mind, body, and sense of self.
Discussion will be accompanied by drinks and light snacks. Space is limited to 10 people. If the May 7 date books up, a second session will open for Thursday, May 14 from 7 PM to 9 PM.
This ticket does not include a copy of the book. Matrescence is available as an audiobook read by the author, and is also available as an e-book through the Hamilton Public Library via Libby. If you'd like a copy to hold, we have a ticket + book option in this collection at 10% off the cover price.

RETURNS
Online orders can be returned within 14 days of initial receipt. If more than 14 days have gone by since the initial receipt of your purchase, unfortunately we can’t accept your return or exchange.
Please contact us at hello@parkette.ca with your request before returning an item. We will provide you with a return authorization number. A return authorization number must be included in your return. All returned purchases will either be issued a store credit or exchange minus the initial shipping charge. We are a small family-owned business and unfortunately cannot offer any refunds at this time.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in its original packaging. Items must be unworn, and tags still attached. All footwear must have no creasing or damage to the soles to be returned. Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food or magazines cannot be returned.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We understand that plans can change, and we’re here to help as best we can. Please note that due to recent changes in our payment processor’s policies, canceled orders will incur a 3% cancellation fee. This fee helps cover the non-refundable processing costs associated with your original payment. Once an order has shipped, we’re unable to cancel it.
